Nigeria’s national electricity grid has suffered another collapse, the second within five days, throwing many parts of the country into darkness on Tuesday morning.
Information from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) indicated that by about 11:00 a.m., power generation had fallen to zero megawatts, resulting in a total loss of electricity supply to all 11 distribution companies (DisCos) across the country.
The latest incident comes just days after the grid recorded its first collapse of the year on Friday, January 24, 2026.
As of the time of filing this report, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Ministry of Power had yet to issue an official statement explaining the cause of the collapse or outlining steps being taken to restore supply.
