Members of the minority caucus staged a walkout from the House of Representatives of Nigeria while chanting “APC Ole” after lawmakers approved Clause 60(3), which provides for both real-time electronic transmission and manual transmission of election results.
During deliberations, Bamidele Salam moved a motion seeking to delete the manual transmission provision, warning that keeping it could weaken the credibility of the electoral process and slow technological progress. The proposal was seconded by Kingsley Chinda.
However, the motion was rejected after the majority voted against it, allowing the clause to stand with both electronic and manual result transmission options intact.
Meanwhile, lawmakers from the minority bloc exited the chamber in protest, directing their chants at the All Progressives Congress.
