The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has recommended exempting military personnel from paying personal income tax in Nigeria.
Committee Chairman Abiodun Faleke announced the proposal on Thursday during a clause-by-clause review of four tax bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
Faleke emphasized that the exemption was necessary due to the crucial role of military personnel in national security. The proposal received unanimous support from lawmakers.
