Local contractors under the umbrella of the All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria on Tuesday barricaded the entrance of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, protesting the non-payment of debts allegedly owed to them by the federal government.
The aggrieved contractors displayed a coffin at the ministry’s gate, saying it symbolised the deaths of several members who had reportedly passed away due to hardships linked to the unpaid sum, which they estimated at over N500 billion for completed projects.
They called on the federal government to urgently release the funds to prevent further loss of lives and to enable them continue their operations.
