Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara last night foiled an attempt by rogue policemen from scaling through the gates and strong room of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission(RSIEC) to reportedly cart away materials for this Saturday’s LG elections.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi disclosed this in a statement.
He said some principal officers of the Commission and relevant government authorities who had worked late informed the Rivers State Governor of the development, when they sighted the police officers.
According to him, the Governor immediately led a team of government officials, lawmakers from the National Assembly and State House of Assembly including top political stakeholders, and other leaders to the facility to foil the attempt.
He said the officers had to retrieve due to the presence of the governor.
Governor Fubara condemned the conduct of those policemen on illegal duty and wondered why the IGP was taking his friendship with some Abuja-based politicians too far.
