The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced the passing of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni.
The elder statesman died on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 82 after battling a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued in Jos, Governor Mutfwang described Useni’s death as a significant loss to his family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the nation. He praised the late General’s dedication to service and leadership, noting his contributions to Nigeria’s security and political development.
Lt. Gen. Useni served the country in various high-profile roles, including as Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, and Minister of the FCT.
