Turkish football club Fenerbahce has dismissed Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho after just one season in charge. The decision follows the team’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage, having lost to Benfica in the play-off round.
Mourinho admitted that Benfica were the stronger side, citing their greater experience and quality of players.
During his time at the club, Mourinho recorded 37 wins in 62 matches but was unable to meet Fenerbahce’s expectations. His departure brings an end to his short spell in Turkey, and attention now turns to his next managerial move
