The immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Obiano, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport yesterday.
It was gathered that the former governor who has been on the watchlist of the commission, was on his way to the United States.
This was shortly after handing over power to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, who won the November 6th gubernatorial election.
It is still not clear why the former governor who is currently in the custody of the commission in Lagos, was arrested.
Spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwajaren in a statement said Obiano has been on the watchlist of the commission, and that they were unable to arrest him while in office because he had immunity.
The Anambra state government is yet to react to the incident.
