The attention of the public is drawn to a disturbing incident that occurred at Chinda, Rumueme, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, where Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unknown gunmen.
While details are still unfolding, it is important to note that the attack was a direct threat to his life and safety where he also lost some valuable items. We strongly condemn this heinous act and call on the security agencies to immediately launch a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
We also wish to reassure family members, friends, and well-wishers that Ambassador Ihunwo is safe and in good health. This incident will not deter his commitment to peace, unity, and the progress of Rivers State.
We urge the public to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of security investigations.
