The Adamawa State Commissioner for Works, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, has declined to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Adamu, who is the son of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was notably absent from the list of 22 commissioners who joined Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in announcing their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The governor had earlier confirmed that members of his cabinet and other PDP officials in the state were moving with him to the ruling party. However, the omission of Adamu’s name from the list has signalled his decision not to align with the defection.
As of the time of filing this report, Adamu has not publicly stated the reasons for his decision.
