American rapper Lil Poppa, born Janarious Wheeler, has died at the age of 25.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia confirmed that Wheeler passed away on Wednesday, February 18, at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time, according to reports by TMZ.
Authorities said the cause of death remains under investigation.
The rapper had released a new single titled “Out of Town Bae” just five days before his passing, on February 13. He was also scheduled to perform in New Orleans in March.
Lil Poppa was signed to Collective Music Group, the record label founded by rapper Yo Gotti, and home to Grammy-nominated artist GloRilla.
He gained widespread attention in 2021 with his hit single “Love & War,” a standout track from his project Blessed, I Guess. The song highlighted his introspective style, as he reflected on love, personal struggles and the desire to protect those close to him.
