Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi made the declaration on Wednesday during the unveiling of the interim leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja, where he signaled his alignment with the opposition coalition.
He disclosed that he tendered his resignation from the APC on Tuesday night, adding that he was surprised the party had not already expelled him, considering he had long distanced himself from its activities and ignored meeting invitations.
Addressing his political stance, Amaechi said his actions were not merely about unseating the current administration but about transforming the country.
“No, it’s not about changing the government. If it were just about changing the government, then there would be no need to do so. It’s about changing Nigeria,” he stated.
