The Senate has replaced suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during plenary on Thursday, naming Senator Aniekan Bassey as the new head of the committee.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal follows ongoing uncertainty over her status in the Senate, despite a recent court ruling in her favour. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court had ordered her reinstatement, directing her to apologise to the Senate for alleged misconduct.
