No fewer than 15 people have reportedly lost their lives following a deadly attack by suspected bandits in Falele village, located in the Daddara district of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, saw heavily armed assailants invade the community, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire with local vigilantes and community guards.
According to sources, several residents were killed during the confrontation, while others sustained injuries before the attackers fled the scene. Security agencies have since stepped up operations to restore order and apprehend those responsible.
Katsina and other states in north-west Nigeria have continued to grapple with recurring banditry, with rural communities frequently targeted in attacks that result in deaths, abductions, and widespread displacement.
