Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Tonye Cole, has announced his intention to run for the state’s top seat again in 2027.
Cole made the disclosure on Sunday while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. He stated that he remains a member of the APC and questioned the political alignment of former governor Nyesom Wike, saying it is unclear whether Wike belongs to the APC or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Cole added that President Bola Tinubu is “deeply concerned” about the political situation in Rivers State. Commenting on the planned local government polls, Cole said the elections should hold only after Governor Siminalayi Fubara returns and the tenure of the current sole administrators ends, stressing that there are “many things wrong” with the proposed exercise.
