A young man has reportedly drowned in a swamp at the Rumuigbo axis of Port Harcourt, while trying to escape police arrest.
We gathered that the deceased was a labourer working at a construction site in the area.
Eyewitnesses say residents of the area had invited police officers to stop the labourers at the site, after series of complaints to the owner of the house to remove his sand blocking a drainage in the area.
They said the boy ran into the swamp when he sighted the police officers who were threatening to shoot him until he drowned.
