The Bonny Local Government Council has dismissed as false an online allegation claiming that it pays ₦100 million monthly to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and the Leader of the House, Alabo Major Jack.
Chief press secretary of the council, William Jumbo in a press statement described the claim, reportedly made by one Prince Kalada Allison, as “false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.” It stated categorically that no such payments have ever been made and that no formal or informal agreement exists to that effect.
“For the avoidance of doubt and in the interest of public clarity, the Bonny Local Government Council states categorically that no such payment has ever been made,” the statement said, adding that the allegation exists only as misinformation circulated by “desperate online actors.”
The council further accused Allison of consistently spreading unverified claims since the inauguration of the administration led by the Chairman, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, with the aim of discrediting the leadership and distracting the public from its governance agenda.
According to the statement, the absence of credible evidence to support the allegation underscores its falsity and suggests a deliberate attempt to mislead the public for undisclosed interests.
Reaffirming its commitment to good governance, the council said the current administration remains focused on delivering dividends of democracy to residents of Bonny Local Government Area, noting that its achievements within the first 100 days in office are “visible and verifiable.”
He urged members of the public to disregard the allegation in its entirety.
