The Bonny Local Government Area has directed all commercial transport companies, unions and individual operators plying the Bonny–Bodo Road to undergo mandatory identification, profiling and registration.
The directive, issued by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, is to be carried out through the Bonny Investment Promotion Committee (BIPC), chaired by Sir Tammy Martins Brown.
According to the public notice, all intercity transport operators using the Bonny–Bodo corridor are required to present themselves with relevant and duly approved documents for proper documentation and registration. The council warned that any commercial transportation activity conducted by unregistered individuals, companies or unions along the route will be regarded as illegal.
The notice further stated that the ban covers the operation of unauthorized motor parks as well as the loading and unloading of buses and taxis at unapproved locations.
The profiling and registration exercise is scheduled to hold from December 18 to December 27, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. The venue is the Bonny Investment Promotion Committee office, located at the former Access Bank building, opposite the Bonny Local Government Secretariat on Hospital Road, Bonny.
The council chairman also cautioned against impersonation and extortion, warning that any individual or group posing as the Bonny Investment Promotion Committee or engaging in illegal levies will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
