Bonny, Rivers State – The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon. Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, has officially unveiled the logo for the first-ever secondary schools sports festival in Bonny, aimed at curbing social vices and discovering young talents.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Queen Kambassa Multi-purpose Hall, Bonny, with prominent figures in attendance, including top government officials, former local government chairmen, representatives from the state Ministry of Education, teachers, and students from public and private secondary schools across the area.
During her address, the Council Chairman highlighted that the sports festival is an initiative of her administration designed to provide a platform for showcasing the athletic abilities of secondary school students. She emphasized that beyond fun and competition, the event aims to address issues such as cultism, drug abuse, and thuggery among youths.
The festival aims to foster healthy competition while promoting discipline, leadership, and unity among students in the Bonny Local Government Area.
