The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bye-law, tagged the “Budget of Security and Social Welfare,” in a move aimed at boosting development, safety, and social support across the council.
Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Amb. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo disclosed this in a statement.
The signing ceremony, held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Council Secretariat, signals the commencement of a new fiscal agenda focused on improving the welfare of residents and strengthening security within the area.
Speaking during the event, Pepple commended the Bonny Legislative Council for what he described as the swift and diligent passage of the budget. He noted that the timely approval reflects a strong working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the council.
According to him, the collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to delivering policies and programmes that will enhance the well-being of the people.
The council boss disclosed that implementation of the budget would begin within one week, with the immediate rollout of key initiatives, including the payment of the 2026 N100 million undergraduate scholarship scheme.
He expressed optimism that the 2026 fiscal year would be the most impactful in the history of Bonny LGA, assuring residents that several intervention programmes would be executed promptly.
In a major development, the chairman also approved constituency projects for councillors across all 12 wards of the Bonny Legislative Council—describing it as a landmark initiative not witnessed since 1999.
Pepple emphasized that the inclusion of constituency projects underscores his administration’s commitment to equitable development and grassroots-driven governance.
