The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and inclusive development across the local government.
He made this known on Saturday, November 8, 2025, during an interactive session with the Bonny Women’s Forum (BWF) held at the Bonny Women’s Hall, where he announced plans to construct a Skill Acquisition Centre and approved a ₦1 million monthly subvention for the Forum to support their empowerment activities.
In her remarks, the Leader of the Bonny Women’s Forum, Amaopurobo Helen Jack-Wilson Pepple, commended the Chairman for prioritising inclusivity and progress in his administration. She expressed the Forum’s readiness to partner with the local government in areas such as empowerment, healthcare, and community development.
Amaopurobo Helen also called for the establishment of a capacity development centre and sustained logistical support through monthly funding. She further urged the local government to enact bylaws addressing issues such as indecent dressing, drug abuse, and other social vices affecting youths and women.
Responding, the Council Chairman appreciated the Bonny women for their unity, prayers, and support for his administration, assuring them of continued collaboration and opportunities for empowerment.
“Bonny women are critical stakeholders in our development journey. This administration is determined to create lasting empowerment opportunities that enhance self-reliance and dignity,” he stated.
He revealed that the construction of the Skill Acquisition Centre project has been included in the 2025 Supplementary Budget and announced a ₦2 million grant for the Forum’s upcoming 3rd Annual Convention scheduled for November 29, 2025.
