The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple on Thursday presented the 2025 Supplementary Budget—tagged the “Budget of Renewed Sufficient Grace”—to the Bonny Legislative Council in accordance with Section 78 of the Rivers State Local Government Administration Law No. 5 of 2018.
Speaking at the Legislative Chambers on Park Road, Bonny, Hon. Pepple said the supplementary budget was crafted to reinforce ongoing governance priorities and fast-track the delivery of democratic dividends to the people. He noted that the fiscal document adopts a development-driven approach, allocating 75% to capital expenditure and 25% to recurrent spending.
According to the budget summary, recurrent expenditure stands at ₦728,850,000, while capital expenditure is ₦3,394,000,000.
“We remain irrevocably committed to fulfilling our mandate by positioning Bonny as a hub of transformation, economic growth, enhanced security and people-centered development,” the Chairman said. He expressed confidence that collaboration between the Executive and Legislature would ensure the timely passage of the budget.
Hon. Pepple also commended the 10th Legislative Assembly for their support during his first nine weeks in office, expressing optimism that the partnership will sustain Bonny’s developmental trajectory.
Responding, the Leader of the 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Tammy Jumbo, described the budget presentation as symbolic and reflective of accountable governance. He said the submission was in line with statutory requirements and demonstrated the administration’s commitment to transparency.
Rt. Hon. Jumbo assured the Council Chairman of the Legislature’s readiness to give the supplementary budget prompt attention, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to supporting programmes and projects that will advance development and empowerment across the LGA.
