The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has condemned the alleged attack on members of the Tobin Chieftaincy House in Finima Community on Saturday, describing it as a direct affront to peace and communal harmony.
The attack, reportedly carried out by unidentified persons, prompted the swift intervention of the council boss, who visited the scene in the company of security agencies to assess the situation. He expressed deep concern over the development and appealed for calm among residents while lawful measures are taken to address the matter.
To forestall further crisis and foster reconciliation, Pepple announced that a peace meeting would be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Government Lodge by 7:00 p.m.
Those invited to the meeting include five representatives from Brown House Asawo and Tobin House Asawo, the Councillor representing Ward 5, Hon. Godswill Brown, and the Divisional Police Officers of Bonny and Finima Divisions. All invitees are expected to be seated by 6:30 p.m.
The Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and communal harmony in Bonny LGA.
