The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has signed the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation By-law, known as the “Budget of Renewed Sufficient Grace.”
Chief Press Secretary, Wisdom Jumbo said the signing ceremony took place on Friday at the Council Secretariat in Bonny.
According to him, Hon. Pepple praised the Bonny Legislative Council for its swift passage of the supplementary budget, describing it as a clear demonstration of strong collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms of the local government. He noted that the synergy continues to drive development across the area.
“Granting this accelerated legislative approval demonstrates that the Executive and Legislature are working seamlessly to place Bonny Local Government on a firm path of transformation and sustainable growth,” he stated.
The Chairman further highlighted that the budget—enacted under Section 78 of the Rivers State Local Government Administration Law No. 5 (as amended)—will provide financial coverage for the remaining five months of the 2025 fiscal year. He said the adjustments will help address urgent community needs and enhance service delivery through people-oriented projects.
Major projects captured in the supplementary budget include construction of a Centre for Persons with Disabilities, a Home for the Elderly, a new Government Lodge, Residential Quarters for Councillors, and a modern Legislative Complex. Also featured are critical flood-mitigation initiatives such as drainage projects, rehabilitation and construction of roads, as well as development of a Marriage Registry Building and Staff Canteen at the Council Secretariat.
