The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has ordered the immediate profiling of all motorcycle (Okada) operators in the LGA as part of heightened security measures following the temporary opening of the Bonny–Bodo Road.
Pepple gave the directive during a meeting with the Executive Members of the Motorcycle Section of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Bonny Chapter, held at the Government Lodge on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The meeting was also attended by the Divisional Police Officers of Bonny and Finima, officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other security agencies.
As part of the profiling process, all Okada operators are required to present their National Identification Number (NIN) and Voter’s Card. The Chairman also approved the free distribution of identification vests to properly documented operators to enhance safety and ease of identification.
Pepple warned that any act capable of breaching the peace—especially during the festive season—would be met with the full weight of the law. He emphasized his administration’s commitment to maintaining order across the LGA.
In a related directive, the Chairman ordered that motorcycles currently parked along the Sandfield Bypass Road be relocated to the Bonny Ultra-Modern Park at Coal Beach, which he approved for free use. He noted that the Sandfield Road will soon serve as an alternative route to facilitate the commencement of the Bonny Road Expansion Project by Evomec Global Services.
