The Rivers State Government says all boats in the State, will be be equipped with fire fighting equipments to help fight fire outbreaks.
The State Commissioner for Transport, Osima Ginah said this in a chat with journalists at the Bille Jetty in Port Harcourt, Today.
According to him, investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the fire which claimed lives.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bonny/Nembe jetty, Clifford Emmanuel has called on the State government to provide fire fighting equipments at the jetty to help fight fire outbreaks.
Speaking to journalists today, Emmanuel said over N1.7 billion was lost in the fire, including over 100 speed boats worth millions.
He also said about 20 corpses have so far been recovered, adding that the number of casualties is still unknown.
