The Rivers State Civil Society Organizations RIVCSO, has said that the reason there is more black soot in the state, and why it will continue is because the government is interested in politics and not governance.
Chairman of RIVCSO in the state, Enefaa Georgewill disclosed this in a post on his social media handle, yesterday.
He stated that the operators of illegal refineries, are Political allies of the government, making it difficult for them to arrest the situation.
“Do You Know Why We Have More Black Soot In Rivers State? Do You Know Why It Will Continue? Do You Know Why We Have More Respiratory & Optical(Eye) Diseases In Rivers State? The Answer Is Simple: We Have A Government That Is More Interested In Politics Than Governance…” he said.
“The Perpetrators Of Illegal Refineries Are Their Political Allies…It Will Be Politically Incorrect To Fight Their Friends… Particulate Matter(Black Soot) Have Come To Stay! We Are Our Own Problem!”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Organization had in a statement alleged that the state Commissioner of Environment, Igbiks Tamuno was sacked by the government for speaking up against the soot.
