Biden was certified few hours after supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump took over the Capitol building to prevent the lawmakers from carrying out their constitutional requirement.
However, once the counting of Vermont’s three electoral votes put Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris over the 270-threshold needed to win the presidency, the wait was over.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has stated that there will be orderly transition of power, despite his refusal to concede.
