Lagos-based pastor and relationship adviser, Kingsley Okonkwo, has dismissed criticisms over his recent tattoo, maintaining that the Bible does not forbid Christians from having tattoos.
The clergyman sparked debate after sharing a video over the weekend in which he was seen getting a tattoo. This move attracted backlash from some Nigerian Christians who described it as unchristian, especially for a clergy member.
In an interview with News Central, Okonkwo said there is no biblical or scientific basis for describing tattoos as sinful or as a reflection of bad character.
He argued that many religious leaders and believers often impose personal beliefs, church traditions, or individual convictions on others without clear scriptural justification.
According to him, opposition to tattoos is largely driven by assumptions rather than facts, as no specific scripture prohibits believers from having tattoos.
