The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State.
Justice Garba Lawal in his ruling Today, held that the appeal by Sylvia and the APC was not only lacking merit but a gross abuse of court process.
The Court of Appeal and the Election Petition Tribunal had upheld Diri’s victory.
Reacting short after the ruling, Douye Diri in a statement said, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57.

Big shout out to our supporters and good people of Bayelsa State for the mandate freely given us which has just been reaffirmed by this massive judgment.
We appreciate the Justices for standing on the side of truth. We do commend the electoral body, INEC for defending its declared results of the November 11, 2023 governorship election while the case lasted from the Tribunal, to the Court of Appeal and finally at the Supreme Court.
