The Bayelsa State Government has announced a four-day funeral programme in honour of the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, with burial scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026.
Governor Douye Diri disclosed this during the 179th meeting of the State Executive Council, noting that the burial date was agreed upon following consultations with the Ewhrudjakpo family and the Catholic Church.
According to the state government, funeral activities will commence on Tuesday, January 27, with a series of sporting events in tribute to the late deputy governor. The activities will continue on Wednesday and Thursday as part of events lined up to celebrate his life and service.
The final funeral mass and interment will take place on Friday, January 30, in Ofoni, Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Diri has directed all relevant ministries, departments and agencies to work together to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated programme, describing the funeral rites as a final honour to the late deputy governor’s contributions to Bayelsa State.
