Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has appealed to Medical Women to go into politics.
Dr. Banigo made this appeal during the Award and Investiture Ceremony of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Rivers State Chapter at Hotel Presidential, in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
Dr. Banigo, who said women in leadership always make a difference because they have innate personality traits and capacity that are irrefutable and undeniable, added that women are needed in positions of authority that can make policies and push to make sure that we have a society that understands what it is to groom with the love of a mother.
Dr. Banigo further said, “Women in leadership are far more empathetic, they are more mindful about things and generally give an atmosphere around them that creates that feeling that everybody can aspire to be the best they can be”.
The Deputy Governor who insisted that this was the time for women to take the lead, disclosed that they have what it takes to lead.
“You have what it takes to succeed and we need you, so do not sit back and say politics is a dirty business, it is not. I am there”. She stressed.
She urged them to register and identify with their communities and Local Government Areas, to enable them vie for positions and congratulated the leadership and entire members of MWAN for a successful Biennium.
