Some traders selling along Ikwerre road in Rivers State, has pleaded with Governor, Nyesom Wike to provide shops for them before asking them to leave the roads.
One of the traders, Mama Chima who sells along Ikwerre raod by Emenike junction in a chat with us, said the shops at the markets are not enough to contain traders.
The woman, said they are ready to move into the market, but the shops available at the moment are not enough.
She called on the government to open the newly built mile 1 market, so that traders can move in and leave the roads.
She noted that trading on the roads is not a good thing but they are left with no other option, as they must feed.
The governor, had in a statement banned trading activities along the roads and urged traders to move into markets.
He stated that enforcement of the ban starts today, in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor local governt areas, adding that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted and C of Os of landlords who allow such activities would be revoked.
