The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has directed residents and business owners to ensure that all wastes are properly bagged before disposal.
The directive was issued during the inauguration of the newly constituted RIWAMA Board, chaired by Dr. Nwanosike Samuel. He warned that refuse not properly bagged would not be collected and vowed that offenders would be sanctioned in line with the law.
The board also announced a ban on the dumping of refuse on road medians, stressing that the measure was part of efforts to restore orderliness and enhance environmental sanitation across the state.
Dr. Nwanosike assured Rivers people of improved waste management services and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to keeping the state clean.
