Former Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, Darlington Orji has debunked claims that Governor, Nyesom Wike wants National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu to resign to enable him clinch the party’s Presidential ticket in 2027.
According to him, despite the fact that Wike is eminently qualified to vie for any political office, there is no iota of truth in the report
Orji disclosed this during an interview on NIGRINFO on Monday.
He also debunked claims that Wike is the reason why Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Governors, Ben Ayade and Dave Umahi of Cross River and Ebonyi states left the PDP for the APC.
He rescribed the reports as false and “Make up facts” adding that the trio never said so.
He stated that it will be disastrous for the PDP to undermine the five governors calling for Ayu’s removal, noting that in 2014 when five sitting governors left the party, they lost the 2015 election.
He revealed that Atiku had boasted that the ticket of the party is in his pocket, and wondered if he is ready to be president or only wants to be addressed as a presidential candidate.
Orji, stated that the primary goal of the PDP is to ensure the victory of its candidates in the state, in next year’s general elections.
