The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, DSSRS hereby cautions the people of Ogu/Bolo especially the Youth not to join a planned protest in the area by the immediate past Council Chairman, a former Assembly member and other loyalists of the Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike against the deployment of Police at the Headquarters of the Council Secretariat in Ogu.
The planned protest is a smoke screen to execute their evil agenda against the good people of Ogu/Bolo and Rivers people by extension.
It is neither in the interest of the Local Government nor the State but a grand ploy by the enemies of the State to incite large-scale violence and unleash mayhem in Ogu/Bolo and other parts of the State to justify their unwarranted call for the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
They are hell-bent on destabilizing Ogu/Bolo and the State at large having failed in their unconstitutional tenure extension and their unlawful impeachment move against Governor Fubara to truncate constitutional democracy in Rivers State.
The Caretaker administration of Ogu/Bolo Local Government is in total support of the directive by the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for the deployment of Police to protect the Council Secretariat and safeguard lives and properties pending further directives.
We therefore call on the peace-loving and law-abiding people of Ogu/Bolo to shun the planned protest as an unnecessary distraction and go about their lawful businesses.
Ogu/Bolo has always been a peaceful Local Government Area, we are not known for such politically motivated protests to provoke violence.
Let us refuse to be lured with money by the desperate politicians to join the said protest which is capable of causing a breach of the existing peace in the area.
Signed:
Emeka Idika Kalu,
Chief Press Secretary to the CTC Chairman of
Ogu/Bolo LGA
