The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, has reacted to the attack on its members at Rumuagholu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Chairman of NUJ in the state, Stanley Job Stanley in a statement in Port Harcourt on Friday, condemned the attacks, describing it as shocking.
He said the union would do everything within its power to ensure that the Police, fish out officers who aided the hoodlums in carrying out the attacks.
Mr Stanley called on the Police hierarchy to investigate the incident, arrest the attackers and ensure Justice is served on the matter.
He also said many of the journalists were injured, their equipments destroyed, and personal belongings carted away.
Meanwhile the State Police Command, says it is investigating the incident.
Spokesperson of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni in a statement said any officer found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
