Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over renewed attacks in parts of the country, describing the government’s response as inadequate.
Atiku said he had earlier reminded the President to uphold his promise that the Angwan Rukuba attack would not reoccur. However, he noted that within 72 hours, another deadly incident in Benue State reportedly claimed over a dozen lives, raising concerns about the government’s commitment to security.
He also expressed worry over developments in Nasarawa State, where families were said to have fled their homes on foot amid fears of impending attacks.
The former Vice President further pointed to a fresh outbreak of violence in Kaduna State over the weekend, stressing that the situation reflects a troubling pattern of insecurity.
According to him, the primary responsibility of any government is to protect lives and property while ensuring the welfare of its citizens. He urged the President, as Commander-in-Chief, to rise to the challenges of governance and move beyond what he described as “hollow rhetoric.”
Atiku also extended his condolences to families affected by the attacks, offering prayers for those who lost loved ones.
