Adamu Atiku Abubakar has resigned from his position as Commissioner for Works in Adamawa State, days after declining to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Governor Fintiri had on Friday, February 27, announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move that reshaped the political landscape in the state.
During the announcement, 22 commissioners publicly declared their decision to follow the governor to the ruling party.
However, Adamu’s name was notably absent from the list of commissioners who joined the defection, fueling speculation about his political stance.
His resignation now confirms his decision not to align with the governor’s move to the APC. As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued detailing the reasons behind his resignation.
The development adds a fresh twist to the unfolding political realignments in Adamawa State.
