Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr. Uzoma Chima has denied claims by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu that the union, is evasive.
Dr Uzoma in a chat with journalists today, described the Minister’s statement as “unfortunate.”
According to him, there is no iota of truth in the statement, adding that the minister has not been attending meetings of the both parties.
He stated that the government had promised to address the issues in August of last year. But, few months after, nothing has happened.
He also alleged that the committee set up by the Federal Government is not serious, accusing them of delay tactics.
Dr. Uzoma warned that the strike would snowball into an indefinite one if no agreement is reached with the government after a month.
He noted that the union has agreed to meet again after one month, to appraise the situation, if nothing reasonable happens.
