The Association of Urban Drivers in Rivers State, has threatened to stay away from work today, over the killing of one of its members by an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp.
The NSCDC official attached to the State Taskforce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor Park, allegedly shot a driver identified as “Biggie” to death at the Choba axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Association, Bestman Chile in a chat with journalists yesterday, said the deceased was shot close to his genitals and died on the spot.
He said this was after he dropped off a passenger along the road, as he decried the lack of bus stops within the area.
Chile also stated that the NSCDC must provide the killer of the driver to face Justice.
Meanwhile, brother to the deceased, Abel William in a statement said he was informed of the incident while on his way back from work.
He explained that his brother was confirmed dead when they arrived at the hospital.
Chile called on relevant security agencies to provide the suspect and ensure that justice is served on the matter.
