The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, DSSRS has declared Wednesday, November 29, and Thursday, November 30, public holiday in honour of the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari, His Serene Majesty, King (Prof.) T. J. T. Princewill, JP, CFR, Amachree XI.
The ASALGA Council Chairman, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, in a statement signed by the Supervisor for Information and Communications, John Paul Braide, said the holiday was to enable Asalgans to pay their last respects and actively participate in the final burial rites of the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari kingdom.
The statement further explained that the holiday particularly affects Council Staffers, and all public and private schools in Buguma City and Ido Community, respectively.
The Chairman, according to the statement, has also banned all vehicular movement in Buguma, stressing that the usage of Okada and other commercial vehicles as means of transportation within and into Buguma is hereby temporarily put on hold from 12 midnight Tuesday to 12 midnight on Thursday.
The ASALGA Council Boss has however directed all Security Agencies in the LGA to enforce the directives and ensure adequate policing of the entire length and breadth of the area, adding that the Local Government is committed to safeguarding and guaranteeing a hitch-free process before, during and after the final burial rites of the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari.
