Chairman of Asari-Toru local government area, Hon. Onengiyeofori George has gifted 306 indigent students the sum of N20 Million naira to support their education.
The Asalga Media Directorate disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

ON. ONENGIYEOFORI GEORGE DISHES OUT OVER ₦20M TO 306 ASALGA STUDENTS; URGES THEM TO USE FUNDS JUDICIOUSLY
Asari-Toru Local Government Chairman, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, has fulfilled yet another campaign promise to students in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria, as about 306 undergraduate and postgraduate students received various sums of money as grants to support their education.
Numbering 306, the students instantly received their alerts immediately after the Executive Chairman’s speech, with noises of celebration echoing around the Council’s Hall of Fame in Buguma City, venue of the event, with beneficiaries chanting praises and encomiums on their LGA’s Chief Executive.
Earlier on, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, while affirming that “education is a major priority of my administration”, tasked the beneficiaries to use the grants judiciously to pursue their educational career. He further charged the students “to continue to be good ambassadors of the Local Government Area in your various institutions.”
Some beneficiaries of the education grant commended the Council Boss for the gesture, which they said was the first of its kind in the history of the LGA; further pledging to utilize the grants rightly.
