Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers state Hon. Onengiyeofori George has approved the sum of 20,000 Naira as Christmas Bonus to all Council workers present at the Christmas Carol, organized by the council.
The chairman, while speaking at the event said he was inspired by a similar gesture by the Governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara who approved 100,000 for Civil Servants in the State payroll.
He gave a brief highlight of his administration’s journey towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Asalga, stating his commitment to bettering the lots of the people.
According to Hon. George Onengiyeofori, the purpose of the Carol, was to proclaim Jesus, the reason for the season, who came to take away the sins of the world and bring about the salvation of mankind.
The event also featured the distribution of Cows, Bags of Rice, Rams, Goats, and Chickens to the 13 Wards in Asalga.
