Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barr George Ariolu DSSRS, has urged the public to desist from promoting negative narratives about our country Nigeria, rather they should continue to profess positivity.
He said that Everything that has to do with the development of the people in a country, involves both the government and the people and as Nigerians we should work together building our nation.
Ariolu gave this charge today 16th October, 2023, when he received members of Rumuobiokani Elderly Women Meeting led by Mrs Patience Chinwoh at the Council Headquarters, Rumuodomaya.
“Everything that has to do with the development of the people in a country, involves both the government and the people. All of us will not be government officials at the same time, but I want us to know that we all have what to contribute to the betterment of the Local Government, State and Country and if there is nothing else you can do for us please continue to remember us in your prayers. Continue to remember Nigeria in your prayers.”
“Let us all come together and contribute our quota to the betterment of us all. Stop the negativity and promote peace and positivity. Continue to pray for Nigeria, there is nothing that we are experiencing now, that has not happened before, even in the bible they experienced famine and hardship.”
“We don’t have any other country to call our own but Nigeria. It is a terrible attitude to abuse Nigeria as a country. Don’t join them, rather pray for Nigeria. In the western world, they went through worse fates but they stayed back to develop their country to what it is. I strongly believe that this country will be better. “
While Speaking, he commended the women for striving towards their personal development and the development of their community with their group’s policies and projects.
“Let me specially welcome you the elderly women meeting of Rumuobiokani to Rumuodomaya, the headquarters of our council for this visit. We appreciate the praises you have showered on us for the little we have been able to achieve for our people within this short period. It is the Lord’s doing and we return all the glory to him for giving us the grace and enablement he has granted us to function properly. “
“Let me also thank the women group in your community for striving towards the development of the community that you come from. For others they will fold their hands for Government to do everything for them but let me thank you for your efforts in this respect. From what you reeled out here, you have made progress as a group to earn a living. I appreciate your effort because it is geared towards the development of your individual self and the community you come from.”
“Let me also urge you to continue to promote peace in your community because where there is no peace, there will be no meaningful development. Continue to live in peace, support your traditional leader and his council. Also support your husbands too.”
In her address, Chairperson Elderly Women’s Meeting, Rumuobiakani, Mrs Patience Chinwoh applauded Ariolu’s overwhelming impact in governance, particularly in the area of human capacity development, infrastructure and women’s welfare.
She encouraged him to continue setting the pace and prayed that he attains greater heights in the future.
