The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, says it has extended its ongoing annual shooting practice in Rivers State by two weeks.
Spokesperson of the division, Charles Ekeocha in a statement on Thursday, said the practice which started on June 13 will now end on July 10. The practice was scheduled to end on June 27.
He said the shooting exercise is aimed at improving proficiency of officers on the use of sophisticated firearms and other weapons.
He advised residents of Elele community where the practice is been carried out to stay clear of the shooting area, to avoid casualties.
Ekeocha also advised residents not to panic when they hear gun shots and see military officers around the area.
