The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of 25 suspected oil thieves, including four alleged members of the disbanded Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Jonah Danjuma, disclosed that the arrests were made during a series of operations conducted in the Niger Delta region between January 12 and 19, 2025.
As part of the operations, the Army destroyed 23 illegal refining sites and recovered 45,000 stolen petroleum products. The efforts are part of ongoing measures to curb illegal activities and protect critical infrastructure in the region.
