Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State, Hon. George Ariolu has signed into Law the 2024 appropriation bill and three bye laws presented to him by the Legislative Arm.
Ariolu signed the bills on Thursday, at the Executive Chambers, Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Rumuodomaya.
The Council Boss in his speech applauded the Legislative Arm of the Council led by Rt Hon. Achor, Prince Nna for being very resourceful and proactive to very sensitive issues as it affects the people in Obio/Akpor both the indigenes and residents.
He said that the both arms of government at all levels should work in harmony to protect the interest of the people as no one is superior to each other.
According to him, it is Imperative for the Legislative and Executive Arm to work together for the benefit of the people.
The three bye laws signed into law are;
1. A BYE LAW TO REGULATE THE REGISTRATION, MOUNTING, DISMOUNTING, LOCKING, OPENING, AND RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION OF SECURITY GATES ON STREETS AND ROADS IN OBIO/AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.
2. A BYE-LAW TO RESTRICT AND REGULATE THE STACKING OF BUILDING MATERIALS ON ROADS WITHIN OBIO/AKPOR LGA
3. A BYE LAW FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND OTHER CONNECTED MATTERS IN OBIO/AKPOR LGA.
