Some applicants of the 5,000 civil service jobs by the Rivers State Government have accused staff of the state Ministry of Education of extortion, for the submission of their documents.
The applicants who spoke to journalists at the state Secretariat yesterday, alleged that they were meant to pay for submission of their documents and collection of first school leaving certificates.
The Ministry of Education in a swift reaction yesterday, disclosed that none of its staff were ordered to collect money from anyone for submission of their application or collection of first school certificates.
Permanent secretary of the ministry, Sokari Davies said the certificates are not even obtainable from the ministry as alleged.
He warned all those indulging in such fraudulent act to desist from it as anyone caught will face the full weight of the law.
