A group known as Wike Generation Next has issued a 48hr ultimatum to governor, Sim Fubara to apologize to President, Bola Tinubu for allegedly insulting him.
The group in a statement said it is surprising that Gov. Fubara would threaten a man who saved him from impeachment a few months ago.
Part of the statement reads,
The attention of Wike Generation Next has been drawn to a statement credited to the governor of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara wherein he threatened that he would surprise the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu should the president take him for granted.
To say the governor threatened the President of Nigeria is to say the least. It is surprising that Siminalayi Fubara would threaten a man who saved him from impeachment a few months ago.
Siminialayi Fubara has forgotten so soon, how he ran to the President, seeking refuge from the clutches of the members of the state legislature who had a plethora of allegations against him, bothering on gross misconduct.
It is on record that Siminalayi Fubara had expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his “fatherly intervention” in the political crisis that rocked the state in the recent past.
He had stated that the president’s mediation “opened a series of communication channels to facilitate the timely resolution of the festering political crisis”.
It is shocking to note that the governor has been operating without an appropriation law. Amongst other resolutions reached, the governor is yet to appear before a properly constituted Assembly to present the 2024 appropriation bill.
Surprisingly, the governor issued a threat to the President of the country earlier today while addressing members of the National Union of Local Government employees.
In his words, ” if that action, I have accepted to follow would be taken for my weakness, I will surprise them, I want this message to go to them”.
We find the governor’s statement insulting, unguided and an affront to the person and office of the President Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As a group, we call on the governor to apologize to the President within 48 hours.
